The Laojia form is the original Chen Style form developed in the 1600's by General Chen Wang Ting.
It is the first form taught to students as it develops the strength, flexibility and grounding needed for a solid foundation in tai chi movements. The Foundation Exercises are based upon the moves from the form to help develop the connections and flexibility to move properly.
This form is covered in class for beginners and improvers looking to develop their tai chi training.
The video below shows my Grandmaster, Chen Zheng Lei, expertly performing the Laojia form, which takes about 15 minutes when run through at an even pace, making it a comprehensive workout.
Notice how he delicately accentuates the gentle movements with swift energy releases throughout the form.
